Temples & Cheese Fries
Up bright and early for our 7am Baptism appointment.
I followed the girls into the dressing room to change into the baptism clothes and they were surprised I was joining them. Kevin always does the baptizing and I am a witness. But I was not going to miss out on baptisms with my girls on such a special trip.
Still meeting her demands.
This one was tricky, but her dad made it happen...
12:30 appointment in the Kansas City Temple.
Then a short drive to Liberty Jail.
This jail is a replica, but built in the same place the original one stood.
The prophet and a few of his followers spent many months in the basement of this jail and in horrible conditions. Joseph went through some serious refining here and Hyrum was right there with him.
We drove out to Adam-ondi-Ahmen and wow.
So incredibly beautiful, even in the pre-Spring weather.
I can't imagine what it looks like in the other seasons.
We stopped at Cheddars for dinner.
I first tried Cheddars in Texas and I love it.
We ate at this same Cheddars when we brought the big kids.
Reminds me of my Texas visits back when I'd take Jax, Em and Dakota to see their cousins and my sister Trish.
We drove a few more hours to Wichita and rolled into our hotel around 11pm.
I can't remember if this was taken before she passed out, or the next morning.
Great news!
I found Spring in Wichita.
The popcorn was popping.
It's still snowing in Utah.
We arrived in Oklahoma just in time for cheese fries for lunch!
We stocked up on some new Joe's cups.
Eskimo Joe's biggest fan...
Then we drove around the OU campus.
Found more Spring in Stillwater Oklahoma!
We showed the girls all the places where Kevin served his mission.
Stillwater
Guthrie
Norman
Choctaw
This is downtown Guthrie.
It's got several antique shops but they close at 5pm so we only explored one.
The church where Kevin attempted to drown his companion in the baptismal font and suffered a nervous breakdown in the weeks that followed.
If you think I'm kidding, I'm not.
And you can't go to Oklahoma or Texas without ice cream from Braum's.
