The Brooklyn Newsie

Last week all Lilly's hard work paid off and she was able to perform in her school's musical, Newsies.
It was touch and go for a while though.
Kevin got a call from the school Monday night during dress rehearsal telling us Lilly threw up and to come get her.
When she left for practice she was fine, but then got a bad headache triggering the nausea.
She almost made it to the toilet.
Poor thing and poor school custodian.
She threw up the rest of the night until 3am when she finally stopped and was able to sleep.
It had been a while since a child and I had bonded over throw up.
Hadn't really missed it.

By Thursday, opening night, she was doing much better and had a great opening night performance.

A few of her adoring fans.
Papa Dave, Mama Linda and Aunt Tam came to cheer her on the next night and then Janie went back for closing night. It was so cute, had I been in town I'd have gone again.

The cast went to Leatherby's to celebrate a job well done.
And Janie tagged along since all her friends were in the musical.

Lilly is the youngest and at the bottom of the totem pole for getting parts.
I asked her which part she would have picked if she could play any character.
She replied, "A Brooklyn Newsie, I just really liked being a Brooklyn Newsie". And she was a darn good one too 😊.
