C'est la Mission - Sister Beck's Weekly Update

Holaaa!
How is everyone? How was your week?

We were invited to a ten year olds birthday party this week. The family of this 10 year old is mostly active but the dad is inactive because of a really hard experience he went through. He texted us and told us to come get some pizza so we drove over and when we get there, there's this massive trailer with Mario Kart on the inside and then in the house there was a bunch of video game decorations and it was decked out in Nintendo switches and all this stuff. As normal me, I was loving it, but as missionary me I started to get worried that we were wasting time and like we shouldn't be there.
But I pushed it aside and started talking with the dad and then we got invited outside to do sand art (Pictured. Again, it was just us, these 20 year old sister missionaries, hanging out with a bunch of kids😂 I loved it) and then we went back in and talked with the dad again and he was so kind and thanked us for coming and he told us how much it meant to him and how he appreciates the scripture texts we send him everyday and then he looked me straight in the eyes and said: You are always welcome here. If you don't have a meal to eat or if it's been a hard day, you come here.

And I was hit so hard with the spirit. Yeah, we were out of place. For surrrrreeee. But it's where we needed to be for this guy to have his heart softened a little bit. It has been so cool to see the Lord's hand in working things out.

I got to try an arepa for the first time this week! That stuff is delicious. What I like about Florida is that there's a ton of different cultures it's not just Venezuelanos or Colombians or whoever it's a bunch mixed together! It's a lot of fun, and it's fun visiting with them.

We got a new ward mission leader in the Lake Emma ward and this guy is a CHARACTER. He's got the heaviest southern accent, he's about 5 feet tall, 68, and enthusiastic. We go to his house every Friday for dinner and a correlation meeting. This man could talk for years. The first week we went there we couldn't get out for THREE HOURS. I know. It hurt. But don't worry, this week we got out in two hours and 48 minutes.
But he gets stuff done. So much so that when he heard that we only get 5 books of Mormon at a time he called our mission president and said that we said we don't get any and that he wants cases full. We got a pretty upset call from president until we cleared things up 😀
We've made the executive decision to be careful with our words around him now.
But I'm excited. He's definitely got his crazy channeled in to the missionary work.
Yesterday he came rushing into our YSA sacrament to tell us that he had the elders quorum president give a "good ol' (butt) whoopin" to the brethren about getting us into their homes more. That's another thing, this guy drops swears like there's no tomorrow. He's the best. 😂

It's been a good week. A long week, but a good one. The longer I'm out the more thankful I get.

Love you all. Have a good one.
