Missionary Monday - Berwyn Heights Week 11
Hello!
So last Monday we had our fhe with the Vazquez family and they had invited a woman named Sandra, who is renting a room in their house, to participate. We taught about the Book of Mormon and it went fairly well, she was starting to understand and then the family started to over explain it to her and it got drug out and then subjects changed. Aaaand yeah. She still wanted to meet again after so that was good.
Tuesday in the morning we went to stop by an investigator that we hadn't heard from in a while. So we knock and then this big Dominican lady answers in a bra with no shame and had a whole conversation with us about the person we were looking for. It was super weird. At night we were out on the grind since we didn't have any lessons and found two new people to teach, that was pretty cool. One of the doors we knocked on a lady opened the first door and then a dog with a cone on its head kept slamming itself into the glass door and it took at least 5 minutes to get the dog put out back so she could open the door, that was pretty awkward 😂
Wednesday morning was a bunch of tracting 🎉 In the afternoon we taught Leticia and her daughters, we brought a Baptismal calendar so we can plan everything out before it happens since they've kind of struggled holding their dates. It worked super well, the mom set their date for the 3rd of August and we are meeting every Wednesday and Thursday in between now and then. Then had a bunch of Chinese food with a member, and then finished the night at correlation.
Thursday we weekly planned. After dinner we taught Leticia and her family again. We retaught the restoration cause not everyone was there for that first lesson a few weeks ago. At the end the mom said she talked to the girls and they want to move the date up to the 27th! So that was pretty cool.
Friday we had district council and interviews, My interview was pretty much just a temple recommend interview. This whole new mission president thing is weird. It surprised me when he asked for my name and how long I've been out cause after 23 months with president Johnson, he just new me 😂 But President Neilson is doing awesome and is a great guy, I wish I had more time with him.
Saturday morning we taught Yamilet. She's the one who stopped us on the street and has come to church twice. This was the first time we were able to actually teach her so we were pretty excited. But, it was kind of a bad lesson. We were doing our best to get to know her and have a personal relationship, but she was being super awkward about things, she wouldn't really answer questions and was just really really quiet throughout the whole lesson. At the beginning we were asking her about how she went to church for so long in El Salvador and if she was baptized or not (a member who gave her a ride said that Yamilet told her she was a member). So when we asked about that she just laughed and didn't say anything????? Eventually she said no but it was weird.
Sunday church was normal, everyone dogged us except one person. The young women gave their report on how girls camp went in sacrament. And the second hour class was based off of the conference talk "Look unto Jesus Christ" That was pretty good too, a few off the wall comments but overall really good. After church we ate with the Arizmendi family and they are super cool. Then the rest of the day was pretty much just talking with strangers about the most important things in the world, good times.
