Trek 2019 - Martin's Cove
We had youth from six wards in our stake go to Trek.
This one's my favorite...
We split the kids up into families.
And chartered two big buses to haul all the families except this one...
Gracie's family rode with us and they loved the fun bus so much, when they were given the chance to ride in the big fancy bus they wanted to stay put.
I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Kevin's awesome country playlist.
Our first stop was Martin's Cove
It is BEAUTIFUL there.
We loved being there with our girls!
Although we didn't see them as much as you'd think.
Each one had their own Trek families.
A storm was headed towards us during the square dancing so we had dancing and a show with all the lightening and thunder.
Check out those skies
We got everyone in their tents just as the storm hit, and it hit hard!
Lots of wind, thunder, and lightening.
We found out later that all the surrounding areas got an inch and a half of golf ball size hail but our little camp was protected.
On day two we treked at Martin's Cove for about six hours.
We were able to go right into the cove where the rescuers took the pioneers for protection from the winter storms.
It was humbling to walk on the very ground they walked.
The weather was perfect.
Not too hot, not too cold.
We had several youth leaders.
They were the ma's and pa's and did an amazing job leading their families, sharing pioneer stories, and testifying of the blessings we have today because of our pioneer ancestors.
Once we finished Treking at Martin's Cove we loaded up on the buses and went to Sixth Crossing.
They were all just a little exhausted.
If you don't know the history behind Martin's Cove and Sixth Crossing you ought to check out these two movies...
Ephraim's Rescue
and
17 Miracles
They tell the stories pretty well.
