Missionary Monday Glenmont - Week 7
What's poppin?
So last Monday we had our fhe's, I taught in Glenmont and it went pretty well. After one of the members asked me if in high school I ever saw myself teaching a room full of members and investigators in another language. Yeeeah no hahah, it's become pretty normal, weird to look at it that way. Also got our transfer calls, Elder Kelly got kicked and now I'm with Elder Taylor from Gilbert Arizona.
Tuesday was kinda lame but it was a good send off for Elder Kelly, he wanted to say goodbye to a million people so that's pretty much what we did. At the end of the night we went to Hna Retanas and she wanted to see a picture of Elder Kelly's adopted black siblings, he shows her and she says "Oh, muy negritos son!" With a super concerned look on her face 😂 😂 😂 It was hilarious. Also had some IHOP for lunch with a member, smacks.
Wednesday was transfers, God be with you till we meet again, Elder Kelly. After transfers we had to give Elder Wahlquist and Skouson a ride to their area cause they don't have a car, that took foreverrrr. Then we ate with Hno Jimenez and turns out Elder Taylor is allergic to wheat and nuts so he couldn't have anything they made. So the wife goes to buy some Peruvian chicken and comes back and one of the sides was Mac and cheese and the Hno thought it was so funny cause he still couldn't eat what she got cause pasta.
Thursday was weekly planning, so, yeah. We went finding in the rain after dinner and got let in by a pretty cool family that we will be having a follow up lesson with tonight. Other than that we just got super wet haha.
Friday we got let in tracting in the morning, the guy wouldn't open the door and kept talking to us through it so all I said was who we were and asked if we could come in for 5 minutes and he let us in! Through the door contacts never go anywhere so I cut to the chase and it worked 😂 District council was a circus, luckily I'm not the district leader anymore. Its a huge district and Elder Wahlquist is in it too and he was off the walls, they did a "Safeguards for doing technology minute" Where they talk about a principle from one of our technology handbooks, they decided to act out what to do when you get robbed, all you need to know is Elder Wahlquist refused to give up the the phone to the robber so Skouson shot him in the face... 😂 Had an interesting conversation with an old white catholic lady. She brought up the communion thing right away about how it's literally Christ's flesh and blood. Elder Taylor had never heard that before so he was going in on it asking her all kinds of questions. My main problem with it is what about when Christ had the sacrament with the apostles, were they eatin him in front of him? 🤔
Saturday we did a ton of finding, nothing super special happened. The ward missionary activity got canceled for the second time.
Sunday church was normal, the best part of the week was Sunday night. We were leaving a complex to go home for the night and I was about to back up and since I'm incapable of backing up on my own Elder Taylor was standing behind the car to back me. As he was standing there a car with two black girls drove up and started talking to him, she asked what he's doing and he said he's a missionary, she asks if he's married or engaged, then asks if he likes black girls 😂 He said he's not racist, then she asked if he liked curves 😂 😂 He kept trying to bring it back to the church or his ministry or something and she was dodging it left and right. He said he isn't even from here he's from Arizona and she was like "Ooh that's okay with me we can live there I like the heat!" Meanwhile I'm laughing my head off in the car watching through the back up camera 😂 He cuts it off by giving her a card, she says "I don't want a card I want you! Does this have your number on it?" Then he said no and got in our car and we left 😂 What a great way to end our sabbath 🙏🏾
