Missionary Monday - Week 5 Olny
What's poppin?
So last Monday we had our district activity, didn't end up trunk or treating because no one showed up on time so as people arrived they went in and started playing basketball with those who were already there. So that worked out, except for the two bags of candy that I had bought for it 🤷🏾♂️
Tuesday we had district meeting and interviews with president at the same time, that was new. My interview was good, president just got back from an area leadership meeting or something like that and Elder Christopherson was there and he gave all the mission presidents a lot to think about as far as improving things goes. So with him being fresh back from that he was all about "How can you be more fruitful than you are right now?" "How can your ward be more fruitful?" "What are you going to do about it?" So it was good, have some good takeaways from it. He made it sound like Elder Wahlquist would be transferred out this transfer so we shall see how that goes.
🎃 Wednesday we walked around a bunch in the morning instead of tracting, that was fun. We stopped this black guy that looked exactly like what you would picture in your head when you hear the word "Pimp" or "Gangster". All black clothes, gold chain with a ak-47 on it, a rosary, tattoos everywhere, and the cherry on top was the blunt he was holding. 😂 We try to talk to him and he just holds the blunt up and says "You see this?" and keeps walking, so we keep walking with him. We get talking and Elder Wahlquist asks what he has going on for today and he says "Gonna go send some money to my mama.... And then smoke some more weed hhehahaeheahaeh". 😂 😂 😂 Elder Wahlquist didn't know how to reply to that (understandably) so long story short he wasn't interested. The rest of the day we did some finding and then after dinner we weekly planned cause Halloween so that was super fun😐 🦇
Thursday I got good news and also bad news. Bad news is, my grandson is going home because he's super depressed. Good new is, my prodigal son is coming back home with us for the rest of the transfer in a trio! So we picked up Elder Castillo and he's been with us ever since. Outside of that there was a whole lot of knocking on doors, met some funny Africans but other than that 👎🏾
Friday we had pupusas for dinner with a member, still not sold on the pupusa. And then had an awesome lesson with one of the people Elder Castillo is teaching in his area, she will be getting baptized later this month after she gets married on the 20th, they're pretty excited.
Saturday we had to finish getting the rest of Elder Castillo's stuff from his apartment, that took forever. Then a bunch of finding until Dia de Hispanidad! The yearly party that each Spanish ward has to celebrate all the countries. However that morning Elder Castillo's dad commented on the Facebook post about it asking for the address meaning he was going to go (Because his dad lives like 40 minutes from the chapel it was at) 😂 So we had to drop off Elder Castillo with another companionship for the night. At the party I met his dad and and brothers, I'm basically a celebrity to his family, not surprised 😏 😉 So that was wack but fun. I also got to see Tomas! (Because Olney is in the same stake as Gaithersburg) It was so great to catch up with him. And all the Gaithersburg members too, I didn't realize how much I missed them. Saturday was a good day.
Sunday was kind of a joke. We had to go to our church and Elder Castillos and I was sick earlier this week but I'm over it now, but Elder wahlquist caught it and came home and was knocked out from like 3-6 and then was awake for an hour then was down for the count after that. So nothing really happened Sunday. Oh! I take that back, Bishops family brought ties from Guatemala for us so that was awesome! But other than that 💩
Today Elder Castillo, Elder Kelly, and myself will be going to the mall, Elder Wahlquist was going to come until he got sick so he's swapping with Elder Kelly, it should be fun. Elder Castillo's investigator got us $30 tickets to some museum for free so hopefully that is worth the time.
Welp, that's all I got! Hope you all had a great week and I look forward to hearing from you!
