The Cousin and a Birthday
"The Cousin" came to town over the weekend.
Uncle Bobby and Lauren payed us all a visit. Lauren has two sisters, Lindsay and Lyla. Lilly has the hardest time remembering their names. So she called Lauren "the cousin" all weekend.
She made her and the cousin floor beds so they could watch a movie.
She taught the cousin how to play Sleeping Queens and they had a sleep over at Mama Jan and Papa Tom's house.
Yesterday we celebrated Mama Jan's Birthday!
She LOVES angel food cake with orange icing.
So grateful for my wonderful mom!
Papa Tom gave the family night lesson and introduced our family scripture and song for 2018.
2 Nephi 5:27
And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness.
Song: True to the Faith
He taught us about how obedience and living the gospel bring happiness.
He also told the grand kids about how Grandma Emmy fell down a mountain when she was young because she didn't obey her parents when they told her to stay away from the mountain ledge. When she would tell us grand kids that story she would have us feel the spot on her head where she still had the scar.
Each one of us took turns telling what our favorite things are about Mama Jan. My favorite was what Lilly said--I'm glad you taught my mom good things so she could teach them to me.
My Dad wrote her the sweetest card and included the receipt for her wedding ring he bought over 47 years ago. She couldn't believe he still had it. He won the prize for most thoughtful gift.
