An Apostle of the Lord
Last night we waited for an hour and a half to see an apostle of the Lord speak. Elder Ballard was giving a fireside to the Institute students and Rachel was in the choir! Even with arriving as early as we did we still had to sit in the overflow but it was close enough.
While we were waiting I got a text from Emmy saying she too was waiting (in a slightly bigger venue) to see another apostle, President Russell M. Nelson speak to the Institute students at USU. Being so close to our apostles is a huge perk to living in Utah. I know we totally take it for granted.
Kev brought some reading material about Adam and Eve to pass the time.
Rachel and the choir did amazing.
They sang Redeemer of Israel and I Am a Child of God.
They sounded like angels.
Elder Ballard was fantastic. That guy is almost 90 and still managed to spend Saturday and Sunday ministering to the people effected by the hurricane in Houston and then flew in just in time to give the fireside. He's funny but direct. He didn't mince any words about what the single adults should and shouldn't be doing. He told of the service happening in Houston by our yellow shirts (Mormon volunteers) and asked if anyone would like to write his General Conference talk which he needs to turn in on Tuesday.
It's birthday time over here.
Saturday we celebrated Gracie entering the teenage years.
Today Miss Janie turns 9, Wednesday we'll celebrate Kloe's sweet 16 and then Sunday it's my man's 46th. He'll officially be pushing 50. I'll blog about the girl birthdays later this week.
