Janie's Baptism Day

About a week before Janie's baptism we got a message saying because Janie was the only one in our stake getting baptized they were canceling the stake baptism.  So we could either hold our own service or wait until the next stake baptism in December.  There was no way Janie was waiting another month so we went ahead with Janie's very own service this past Saturday.  She chose the talks, prayers, and musical numbers which made it extra special.

Kevin had to spend the morning at the church filling the font so he took Lilly along and she thought watching the font fill up and hanging out with Dad was the best.
Kevin asked her if she was excited to be baptized like Janie in a few years and she said, "No, I'm excited to get my ears pierced"--which was happening later that day.

This girl was beaming through her entire service.
Her dad baptized her and she asked Jackson to confirm her.
I am grateful we have the opportunity to be baptized as young as 8 years old.  We need the blessings of baptism and the constant companion of the Holy Ghost and I appreciate my children being able to draw upon those blessings when they are little.

Janie got to choose where we went afterward for lunch.
She chose our favorite eat-your-weight-in-pizza place.

This is the stuff that matters.
Making covenants with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and celebrating with the people we love most.

When she got home she immediately went to work on this pillowcase from Grandma Meldrum and her daughters.  Grandpa Meldrum passed away Friday and yet the Meldrums still came to see Janie baptized.  Our ward family is like that, always supporting and loving each other, just like our immediate family's.  I am so thankful for all of them.
