Gary

Meet Gary...

Years ago Gary was a cop.  He got hit by a car and died on the helicopter ride to the hospital.  While he was "dead" he was told he had more things left to do.  He was resuscitated, recovered, and became a non-denominational minister and started a self defense karate school.
Then he met the Mormons.
When Jax first met Gary he and his companion would go visit him every other week.  His companion would ride Gary about coming to church but Gary wouldn't have any of it.  Gary read the entire Book of Mormon in about 3 months and was still really apprehensive but said he felt like he needed to do some further investigating so Jax and his companion gave him the Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith.  Gary read it in a month.  Then they gave him the Gospel Essentials book and he read it in a week.  He went to all 5 sessions of the October 2013 General Conference and finished the Pearl of Great Price.
On October 12th, 2013 Gary was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
When Jax asked him what changed and caused him to want to be baptized he said that everything our church teaches about life after death was exactly what he experienced when he died in the helicopter.

In July of last year Gary passed away unexpectedly.  When he died he was in the process of preparing to go to the temple.  Gary's branch president in Michigan asked Jackson if he would like to take Gary's name to the temple and do his temple work for him.  Last Thursday Jackson did Gary's initiatory work and endowment.  Aubrey's parents and Marc Young joined us for the endowment session.

Jackson met Marc Young while he was serving in Michigan and Marc was in Gary's branch.  One thing that impressed Marc most about Gary was that he gave the most beautiful heartfelt prayers in their worship services.  Marc has since moved to Utah.
I am so grateful for the blessings of the temple and I am grateful the living can help those who have passed away receive their temple blessings.
