Hastening the Work

Emmy sent me this text before heading out for her Spring Break trip this morning...

Glad to see all my preaching about healthy eating and penny pinching has paid off with at least one of my children.

Because the husband works in the temple he got invited to this awesome devotional, and he took me with him.
We were excited to hear from Elder Russel M. Nelson, but our favorite speaker ended up being his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson.  She shared her experiences with hastening the work of salvation by doing family history.  Elder Richard G. Scott inspired her with THIS talk back in 2012.

Kevin has been helping to hasten the work by getting all our older kids involved with indexing.
I need to start doing it too.
Wendy Nelson, the busy wife of an apostle, decided she could spend some time doing family history work by giving up her personal scrabble time on the iPad.
She got me thinking what can I give up to make the time to do some indexing.
I don't have the attention span for iPad games so there's nothing like that to give up.
I asked the husband if he'd take some cooking classes so that he could take over fixing dinner--that would free up A LOT of my time.  He wasn't interested.

One thing Elder Nelson said that I have been thinking about is how people not of our faith like to talk about aspects of Mormonism that aren't all that important.  He wondered why they don't talk about the incredible fact that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.  He saw them!  They came to earth to speak to him directly.  And the Lord still speaks to his prophets today.
