Steve the Pie Man
Sisters helping sisters get ready for church :)
Uncle Stevie gave our family night lesson tonight, with the help of Gracie and Lilly.
He taught us about Humility.
Did you know President Hinckley's favorite scripture is about being humble?
Be thou humble and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers.
Doctrine & Covenants 112:10
It just so happened that our topic for our family scripture study out of Preach My Gospel was also on humility (I'm blogging today's post tomorrow, which is actually Monday :) Between Steve's lesson and our family studies we learned this about humility...The opposite of humility is pride, which is condemned in the scriptures. To be prideful means to put greater trust in oneself than in God or in His servants. It also means to put the things of the world above the things of God. Prideful people take honor to themselves rather than giving God the glory. Pride is competitive; those who are prideful seek to have more and presume they are better than other people. Pride usually results in feelings of anger and hatred, and it's a great stumbling block.
Can you imagine what a better world it would be if we all worked to have more humility and a lot less pride? I can't fix the world but I can work on myself :)
Tam and Steve brought the desserts and they were fantastic...
Tam made her famous Sherbet Coolers
And Steve made Peach Pie!
Oh my, it was my first peach pie of the season and it tasted just as amazing as it looks!
Speaking of Steven. Why not spotlight him today!
Let me first start by saying that Steve is FUNNY! He has a fantastic sense of humor and is always cracking us up. The funniest is when he cracks himself up. Those who know him know what I'm talking about :).
Of course I had to post this picture Steve, one of my favorites.
Steve is a lawyer and a damn good one at that (yes, Mormons do swear sometimes, at least this one does). Seriously though, I have seen few people as passionate about their jobs as Steve is. He's a prosecutor for the County District Attorney's office. He works in the juvenile system and prides himself (not to be confused with being prideful) in helping kids who can't help themselves. He also spends a lot of time serving the community in various ways. Steve's a good guy.
Steve will tell you that he is always right. And quite frankly, he usually is, except when he's wrong and Kevin has the text messages to prove it :).
Steve also loves to fish. I think Steve loves to fish almost as much as Kevin loves to fish. And Kevin would like me to take this opportunity to tell you that Steve learned almost everything he knows about fishing from his brother :).

Uncle Stevie is a great Uncle! He spends hours supporting the kids with all their various sports and performances. He's also a great photographer and has captured TONS of Kodak moments for me. Thanks for all you do Steve, we love you!
