The 20 Year Trip - Part 2
I only had 4 things I wanted to do on this trip...
1- Go to the Laie LDS Temple
2 - Spend lots of time on the beach
3 - See Pearl Harbor
4 - Eat good food
The goal was to have a very relaxing, lazy vacation :)
Our first day we hit the Jack Pot with the food. I had read about a little place called Papa Ole's only about 10 minutes away from where we were staying. We ate there several times and our favorite breakfast was their bacon cheese and tomato omelet, fried potatoes and cinnamon french toast (the banana macadamia pancakes are pictured and they were pretty good too) and for dinner their kalua pork and cabbage. We LOVED that pork! I am currently searching for recipes to try and duplicate it.
I love to feel the sand on my feet and between my toes. The husband is not a fan of the sand but he powered through it.
Let me tell you right now that if you are hoping for some amazing photos of this beautiful island you will be very disappointed. I am no photographer and after looking at my friend Amy's Oahu vacation I realized what a terrible job I did photographing this trip.
Visitors Center at the temple.
We did an endowment session and the inside of the temple is beautiful and the temple grounds were amazing. We plan to serve a full time mission some day when all the kids are moved out (at the rate we're going that will be a while) and we decided getting called to serve in this temple and taking care of the temple grounds would be Kevin's perfect mission call! I can totally picture him trading in his old man sweater for an old man hat and buzzing around the temple grounds on his riding lawn mower. In reality we'll probably end up in some third world country digging wells or something (and we're fine with that too) but it's fun to dream :)
This would be the only picture we have of the island flowers. Amy got great pictures of the flowers if you want to see more :)
Stay tuned for Part 3...
