The Ultrasound

Baby Fin with his legs crossed and his little hand up to his face.

Today I had my ultrasound with the technician at my midwife's office. I always look forward to the 20ish week ultrasounds with my babies, I think all mothers do. There is a small amount of worry in the back of my mind that a problem with the baby might show up, but thankfully they've always been normal and healthy.
The first thing the technician noticed was this is in fact a BOY, she wasn't 80% sure, she was 100% sure! So that was once again fun news. Everything she pointed out during the scan seemed to be good. The only thing she didn't get a good look at was his face because of his position and he kept his little hands right up close to his nose. I did have some concern about his face because on Monday Fetal Fotos called to follow up with the ultrasound I had on my birthday. They told me the Dr reviewing the scan thought there might be a problem with the width of the face. I had no idea what to make of that but I wanted to have it thoroughly checked to be sure everything was okay.
We waited for about 30 minutes to see my midwife...which I spent talking with Kevin and sending out text messages to friends and family about the baby boy news. When we finally saw the midwife I expected a routine check up and possibly to schedule a follow up ultrasound so we could get a better look at the face but instead she told us because of some questionable findings in his little brain and heart we needed to go see a specialist. My heart sunk as I knew this couldn't be good. So on Monday we see the specialist and in the mean time all we can do is put him in God's hands. I don't know how this will pan out but I do know that God is in charge and everything will be okay.
