He’s Coming - Part 1

7 months pregnant.
I look like a snowman.

Valentines Day 1994
We had a candlelight dinner and then watched Europe videos for the Europe unit I'm working on for the 6th grade class I'm student teaching in.
Our last weekend alone together was really nice (although we didn't know it was our last weekend alone together).  Friday we ordered pizza and watched the Olympics, Saturday morning we went to the temple and then shopped for a car seat.  We had lunch at El Sol, my favorite Mexican restaurant.
Sunday Kevin made me breakfast, we took a nap and went on a long walk.
My feet, hands and face were so swollen and I ached everywhere.  I was glad to be so busy with teaching to keep my mind off feeling so miserable.
I thought I had three more weeks before baby was coming.
And then my water broke on Monday morning, President's Day...

I'm a planner and spontaneity is not one of my best qualities.
My plan for this baby was to go into labor a day or two after I finished student teaching.  So when my water broke at 3:30am Monday morning, it really threw me.
This guy though, likes to fly by the seat of his pants, so he was good to go.

By 4:45am I was having mild contractions.
My Aunt Jill and Uncle Brian came over and Uncle Brian helped Kevin give me a blessing.
We arrived at the hospital at 5:30am and my contractions were getting stronger.
I was dilated to a 4.
By 7am I was dilated to a 7-8.  I thought I'd be in more pain at that point.

I had never considered having this baby natural, so I went ahead with the epidural.
While the Dr was hooking me up, I had two really painful contractions.
Here I am right after joining the Epidural fan club.

I'm probably telling my Mom how great the epidural is.

We were both so excited to meet this baby!
