Missionary Monday - Glenmont Week 6

What's up?

So last Monday we were going to do our split to go to both family home evenings but one of the splits canceled so we had to pick one to go to and we hadn't been to the laurel one in like 3 weeks and no Investigators were going to the Glenmont one (or so we thought...) so we went to laurel. Turns out our laurel Investigators canceled and 3 non members came to the Glenmont one. Sooo yeah that was unfortunate.

Tuesday morning we knocked and almost saw a little African family get eaten by a raccoon in their trash can that was wild 😂 (they're fine). That was about the most exciting thing that happened Tuesday. More finding and a lesson with 2 less active girls.

Wednesday we knocked some more in the morning, got preached at by a 70 year old Latino guy. In the afternoon we got let in by an Ethiopian family, that was cool. They didn't speak a lot of English so I don't know how much they understood. We had our apartment checked by some senior missionaries since it's the end of the transfer, there's a few problems with the apartment that are the complex's fault and Elder Garrett is going to give the leasing office a piece of his mind. He seemed almost excited about it 😂

Thursday we weekly planned so that took up a lot of time. We ate with Hno Jimenez (member who is more involved in missionary work than anyone) and he gave us some good people to go look for that used to meet or have gone inactive. We went to find one of the less active members who was close by and he turns out to be a super cool guy and wants to come back. Then we went to basketball this week, we were able to teach at the beginning. There were like 12 less active 20-30 year olds there so it was a success. My team also never lost but that's besides the point 😉

Friday we had district council, the assigned topic was the word of wisdom for the doctrine and role plays so it was a little stale but now we know how to handle drug addiction 🤷🏾‍♂️ Then we had some PAPUSAS with Dora (refer to Moville week like 3 🤮) They were ok, I'm still not convinced of their divinity like everyone else. She's still waiting on the divorce to get baptized FYI 🤞🏾 Hno Castillo ended up buying $40 worth of Guatemalan ties from Elder Castillo too, that was funny. 😂

Saturday we met with Mario and Carmen (the Dominicans from last Saturday) and that was awesome. They seem to have genuine desires and committed to come to church. (spoiler alert, they came! 😂) Then later we taught Amado with hermano Jimenez. We taught the restoration and he sort of understood it, he loves the Book of Mormon so that's the main thing we will work on as far as his conversion. He also committed to come to church (spoiler alert, he came too!) He told us since he first spoke with us the first time a few weeks ago he's noticed something different in us and all the members he's met since, he loves that.

Sunday everyone came to church 🎉 It was ward conference and it went super well, everyone enjoyed it. After church we met with that less active I talked about earlier, he didn't come to church but we weren't able to actually meet with him to commit him to come so I guess we can't be upset 😂 But we got to know his story, he's super solid, convert, served a mission, has held a ton of callings, still studies. He just went inactive for work, but apparently working on the weekends is optional so we told him to knock that off, he's down and says he's ready to come back. Then we went to why I believe at the visitors center, it was awesome some super high up judge spoke who's a convert and he directed it all to investigators. I also got to see Tomas there! He got made an Elder like 2 weeks ago, crazy. It feels like we just barely found him. We found Elder Castillo to take a picture and Tomas says "Look at us, 3 elders" 😂 😂

So anyways, that's the week. Kinda slow but good things happened. Transfer calls are tonight so we will see what my transfer doctrine is 🤞🏾 Hope you all had a great week and I look forward to hearing from you! ✌🏾
