Esty's Farewell

Yesterday Estabon had his mission farewell.
Yes, it's a little early.  He won't leave until August 8th, but we wanted to have it while Jackson and Aubrey were in town.

It wasn't until yesterday that my Esty leaving suddenly felt very real.
I sat there in sacrament meeting watching and listening to him talk about his desire to serve a mission, his love for his Heavenly Father and Savior, and his testimony of their work.  My heart was bursting with gratitude for  my Heavenly Father, my Savior, living prophets and scripture that teach us how to raise our kids.
All the early mornings for family prayer and scripture study, all the family home evenings, all the trips to the temple, worshiping in church every Sunday.  This is why we do all of it, to bring our kids and our family unto Christ.  Life is so good with Christ as our foundation.  God's plan truly is the plan of happiness.

It was a busy day for me even with skipping the open house afterward.
We had a family dinner after church and then the Stake Youth Conference fireside later that night.
I completely spaced taking any pictures but my Uncle Alex and Aunt Judy did get this one with their family and Rachel's mom took this one...

Another bonus was that Kevin got asked to speak too.
He gave the best talk about listening to the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

Serving up Estabon's favorite dessert--brownies with vanilla ice cream and Great Grandma Moon's hot fudge.

He said goodbye to Jackson and Emmy for the next two years.

Emmy's always trying to hug Dakota and he's usually pretty reluctant but today he hugged her for like 10 minutes.  She loved it.

4 more weeks with our Esty and then he's off to the Mexico MTC.
I can't even think about dropping him off at the airport without getting all choked up.
